On March 15 2008, aura gallery will inaugurate a new space in Beijing
with happy together, featuring works of Anish Kapoor, Matthew Barney,
Stephen Balkenhol, Marc Quinn, Yin Zhaoyang, Luo Quanmu, Qu Guangci
and etc.
The first part of happy together comprises the collection of aura gallery
and its collectors. Works of Matthew Barney, Stephen Balkenhol, Lawrence
Carroll and Roxy Paine will be shown in Beijing for the first time.
Quinn’s The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters is a rare but important
piece. Referring to Goya’s etching, this work on paper addresses his
continuous theme of imperfect body and reflects his work Alison Lapper
in Trafalgar Square, London. Other works include Anish Kapoor’s Darkness
Stretching Outwards, Roxy Paine’s polyethylene installation and Lawrence
Carroll’s sculpture.
The other artists in happy together include Yin Zhaoyangi, Luo Quanmu,
Qu Guangci, Hong Lei, Xiang Jing, Wei Jia, Ji Dachun and Qiu Xiaofei.
Founded in 2000, aura gallery has been holding many important Chinese
artists’ solo debuts, such asYin ZhaoYang, Luo QuaMu, Hong Lei, Han
Lei, and has become one of the most significant Chinese galleries to
Western collectors. In its past exhibitions, such as Mask of Japan—Japan
Contemporary Photography and Face to Face in 2004, Wasabi – Photography
by Moriyama Daido and Shadow Chamber – Roger Ballen Solo Exhibition
in 2005, artists Araki Nobuyoshi, Moriyama Daido, Roger Ballen, Sugimoto
Hiroshi and Morimura Yasumasa were first shown commercially by aura
in China.
aura gallery Beijing will continue its focus on Chinese and international
contemporary arts. Upcoming exhibition include Liu Dahong and Qu Guangci
- Two Person Solo Exhibition, Luo Quanmu Solo Exhibition and other international
artists’ group / solo exhibition.
happy together series, the annual exhibition of aura gallery, is based
on the gallery collection and collection from aura’s collectors.
亦安画廊北京于2008年3月15日开幕，首展展出亦安画廊艺术家作品，以及画廊本身之收藏、画廊之收藏家朋友之收藏，作品包括尹朝阳、罗荃木、瞿广慈、向京、Matthew
Barney、Stephen Balkenhol、Anish Kapoor、Marc Quinn等；展览名称春光乍现 happy together，便是取其初春之美意，和艺术家、收藏家、画廊之交融。
春光乍现happy together中可见亦安画廊及其藏家的国际收藏，Matthew Barney、Anish Kapoor 、Marc
Quinn，都是这世代最前卫且富人文内涵的艺术家，尤其Marc Quinn的The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters不同于大家所熟悉的花园系列，这是Quinn指涉哥雅的同名版画、少见的黑白纸上作品，图中的人像回应Quinn的雕塑和其为特拉法加广场Trafalgar
Square所做的英国艺术家Alison Lapper的塑像，同时也可视为发展出以模特Kate Moss为主角的系列作品的前身。而年轻纽约艺术家Roxy
Paine以聚乙烯所雕出如装置般的半平面作品，则和Matthew Barney的NO RESTRAINT的鲸鱼油成了有趣对应。
春光乍现 happy together并将展出亦安艺术家尹朝阳、瞿广慈、陈文令的新作，以及经过亦安画廊受收藏家典藏的罗荃木、向京、仇晓飞的作品。
亦安画廊自2000年设立以来举办过多名重要中国艺术家首展，如尹朝阳、罗荃木、洪磊、韩磊、季大纯等，并同时举办、收藏国际当代艺术家作品。亦安画廊北京空间将以介绍国内外当代艺术为主要工作，今后的展出预定包括瞿广慈、刘大鸿双个展、罗荃木个展，下半年并将策划国际年轻艺术家个展。
春光乍现 happy together为亦安画廊每年一度的展览，以画廊本身之收藏、及画廊之收藏家朋友之收藏为主，显现亦安画廊为国际性当代画廊的风格。
